Donna made these simple but effective burb cloths that feature an embroidered design and fabric with decorative ribbon. Here’s how you can too.

Effective Burp Cloths

  1. Prepare your materials: diaper, embroidery design, ribbon and fabric.
  2. Add your embroidery design 6" up from the bottom of the diaper.
  3. Cut the fabric about 1/4" wider on the sides and bottom than the diaper
  4. Put the fabric in place over the lower half of the diaper right side up, turn over with the back side facing up, fold the fabric over the diaper on the sides and bottom and iron to create a crisp edge making step 5 easier.

    Iron the fold
  5. Turn the diaper back over with the decorative fabric facing up, fold the bottom of the fabric under itself 1/4" and pin then fold the fabric sides under itself along the edge of the diaper and pin in place.

Fold the fabric between itself and the diaper
  6. Add the ribbon by cutting it a little wider than diaper, put in position and fold the edges between the fabric and the diaper and pin in place.

Pin the fabric and ribbon in place
  7. Stitch the fabric and ribbon in place by sewing from the bottom left corner, up the side, across the top of the ribbon and down the right and back across the bottom Then stitch the bottom of the ribbon in place

    The finished product
